The 2015 Crab Trap Removal is now history. The Port O’Connor Chapter CCA was on hand at the Texas Parks & Wildlife docks to assist on Saturday, February 21. Several members were on the water, along with other volunteers to pick up crab traps. Chris Smisek of the San Antonio Chapter and his crew, Lannie Green, Dr. Alan Baribeau, along with Chester, brought in the most traps – 41. Ted and Weslene Gaetjen followed with twenty traps; Carl Ray and Dane Whitworth came in third with fourteen.

The weather was great in comparison to what it has been and the turn-out reflected the beautiful weather.

The Chapter provided lunch for all who participated and it was enjoyed by all. A special thanks to all who participated in the preparation and serving of the meal, including Pam and Carl Ray, Maxine and Mike Sharp, Debbie and Jim Busby, Monique Morlan, Susie Onishi, Carol Fox, and Judy and Dane Whitworth. Also, thanks to Norman Boyd of TPWD and his crew for the use of their facilities and assistance.

The Port O’Connor Chapter CCA will be scheduling meetings in the near future in preparation for the 16th Annual POC CCA Banquet, so be sure to pencil in that date: Saturday, October 17.
