The past two weeks have been exciting, adventurous, tiring and very enjoyable. I have just returned from my “RIVERBOAT CRUISE” with my younger sister, Janelle, who is 80 years old, and a jewel of a sister! Janelle’s husband passed away 11 years ago and I lost my darling wife, Bernice, 7 years ago.

The Cruise began with an overnight flight from Houston to Marsille, France and then boarding our River Boat, DISCOVER II to sail the Rhone River. The plane trip was extremely extremely tiring, but we were ready to go on the exciting trip of a life time. Our accommodations were fantastic and the food was great.

Our first visit was to the Avignon Popes Castle in Avignon, France. Words cannot describe this beautiful Home, built in 1522.

Each day in France, along the River, we viewed hundreds of beautiful grape fields of various types of grapes. At this time of year they are preparing to harvest the grapes and this is all done by hand. We visited several grape farms and several Wineries. The majestic Castles, Homes, Cathedrals and Churches were breath taking. I took over 200 photos and will share with anyone interested.

The Church is in the final stages of producing a Photo Directory. The Directory will contain photos of each family, members and friends of the Church who attend. Pictures will be taken August 23 & 24 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each day.

Reservations are now being taken for those Senior Citizens who wish to attend the Senior Retreat at CAMP ZEPHYR. The Camp will be October 24 – 27 and the cost is $100.00 per person and includes lodging, and the cost of food and refreshments. For more information please callDonnie Martin at 361-983-2727 or Doyle Adams 361-983-4866. This Camp is outstanding and you will have an enjoyable Christian Time!
