Condolences – Julie Rivas Hunter

Mrs. Hunter was born in San Francisco, CA on July 13th, 1945 where her father served in the Navy during WWII. She grew up in New Orleans, LA and attended the University of Miami. She resided in Port O’Connor, Texas since 2002 with her beloved husband of 47 years, Elbert “Gene” E. Hunter.

Mrs. Hunter passed peacefully in her sleep on November 12th, 2017 at the Port Lavaca Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Port Lavaca, TX at 10 :15pm.

She is survived by her husband, Elbert “Gene” E. Hunter, step daughter, Kelly H. Gildart, and step grandson, James Hunter Gildart who is currently a junior at California Polytechnic State University.

Mrs. Hunter was preceded in death by her brother, Marcel S. Rivas, Jr., father, Marcel S. Rivas and mother, Vivian P. Rivas.

Julie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a blessing to all lives she touched and will be greatly missed. She was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church and enjoyed working in her vegetable garden, taking walks, cooking and entertaining.

Graveside Services were held at Port O’Conner Cemetery on Monday, November 27th, 2017.
