Nine years ago, Kelly’s husband, David Walker, brought her to Port O’Connor, a place he had been visiting since 1984. Enjoying the hometown feel of this little community, they decided to make it their home. Kelly’s son and daughter-in-law live elsewhere, but her grandson, who she describes as “perfect”, loves to come visit every chance he gets.

Since settling here, Kelly has been involved in many community projects and activities. She is a member of the Port O’Connor Service Club, on the Board of the POC Community Center, a Friends of the POC Library Committee member, and a member of the Boggy Improvement Committee.

At most any community event, you will find Kelly and David among the workers. For a number of years they have helped with various projects at Fisherman’s Chapel, and are now helping to build the new Cowboy Fellowship of Port Lavaca.

Kelly has spent several years on the Port O’Connor Benevolence Fund’s Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets team, an outreach that requires a lot of manpower. And she volunteers for Warrior’s Weekend, a cause she is passionate about.

A few years ago, Kelly joined the Dolphin Talk team, and has been a great asset to it. When not helping around the community, she enjoys her chickens, her garden, fishing, reading, and visiting family and friends.
