Russell Cain
May 23, 2011 – Port Lavaca, TX – Russell Cain, a premier Coast Bend real estate broker and owner of Russell Cain Real Estate, was appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry to the Real Estate Research Advisory Board, which advises the Texas Real Estate Research Center at Texas A&M University.
Russell received this prestigious appointment following years of service to our communities and state. His appointment will help bring attention to the crossroads area. Cain currently has three offices serving the Coastal Bend.
“The Advisory Board of Directors creates the agenda for real estate for years to come, which has a huge impact on every Texans’ life,” Cain said. “I am honored about the appointment and excited to be able to bring more exposure to South Texas and especially our Coastal Bend area.”
The Real Estate Research Center at Texas A&M University conducts real estate-related research, covering financial, socio economic, public policy, trade, legal, land use and local market analyses. The 10-person advisory committee is appointed by the governor and provides research guidance and approves the budget for the Real Estate Research Center. Six of the committee’s members are real estate brokers, who are in the fields of finance, commercial properties, improvements, residential properties and industrial properties. Three members represent the public, and one member is an ex-officio representing the Texas Real Estate Commission.
Cain is a member of the National and Texas Association of Realtors, and is past president of the Coastal Bend Board of Realtors. He is director of the Calhoun County Economic Development Corporation, a board trustee of the Memorial Medical Center, vice president of Calhoun County American Cancer Society, and honorary director of Bluebonnet Youth Ranch. Cain is president and director of the Port Lavaca Main Street Association, a board member of the LaSalle Water District, and past chairman of Gulf Bend Center. Cain served as Rotary District 5930 Governor from 2008-2009. He also is a member of Grace Episcopal Church. He received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University at Kingsville.
The appointment, the term will expire Jan. 31, 2017.
