The El Camaron team from Port O’Connor, Texas won the Blue Marlin Division in the 72nd Texas International Fishing Tournament (TIFT) on August 3-7 in Port Isabel, Texas. The crew consisted of Capt. John Welder, VI.; wireman/mate Tyler Dick; anglers John Aimone and Derek Dick. This was the only blue marlin brought in and their winning fish weighed 555 pounds and was 112 inches in length. This was El Camaron’s first TIFT tournament to participate in. Capt. John was one of the youngest captains in a center console boat. It took two and a half hours to land the fish.
