This year H-E-B customers along with an H-E-B round up donation raised $364,300, which will benefit 18 food banks in Texas. The program supports 26 food banks throughout Texas and Mexico, which in turn serve more than 5,000 organizations.

Tear-off coupons in the amounts of $1, $3 and $5 were located at checkout stands in area H-E-B grocery stores, where customers could add the desired donation amount to their final grocery bill. As a result of the donation, more than 15,000 meals will be made available to Victoria area’s hungry families.

H-E-B leadership along with Golden Crescent Food Bank representatives gathered for a check presentation on Friday, August 26 at the Victoria H-E-B Plus! A check in the amount of $5,000 was presented to the food bank as result of a tear-pad campaign that ran May 12, 2011 to June 28, 2011.

In 2010, H-E-B donated more than 24.2 million pounds of products, valued at $36.1 million.

The Food Bank of the Golden Crescent would like to extend a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to the HEB Stores and residents within Bay City, Cuero, Edna, El Campo, Gonzales, Port Lavaca, Refugio, Victoria #2, Victoria #3, Wharton and Yoakum for making this donation from the “Check Out Hunger Campaign” such a success in your community.

The Food Bank of the Golden Crescent partners with 96 food pantries, shelters and soup kitchens within eleven counties in the Golden Crescent Region of Texas. We would not be able to operate within these counties without the continual support of our neighbors!
