Seadrift – Nettie May went to rejoin “the love of her life” Fred May on September 13, 2011. She left behind a family who will remember and hold within them the love she shared throughout her life.

Nettie was born in Marlin, Oklahoma on May 15, 1926 to Ira and Eula Watrous and moved to Houston shortly after, where she was raised and the family grew. She moved to Seadrift in 1952 where her husband Fred went to work for Union Carbide. There she fished until her heart’s content.

Nettie was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Ira and Dicky Watrous.

She leaves behind her daughter, Brenda Dworaczyk and son-in-law, Martin; grandsons, Shawn Dworaczyk (Donna) and Shane Dworaczyk (Vicki); great-grandchildren, Hope, Brittany, Dakota, Riley, Cierra, Blair and Shayna; great-great-grandchildren, Kamryn, Tallen and Brilen; sisters, Renee Gray, Mary Lawrence, Thela Garner (Clifton), and Sylvia Bliss; and brother, Marion Waltrous (Audrey).

Funeral service was held at the Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home Chapel on September 16. Burial followed at Seadrift Cemetery.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Shawn, Shane, Dakota, Craig Lambright, John Fellers and JD (Buddy) Cross.

Honorary pallbearers were Martin Dworaczyk and Donald Harned.

The family of Nettie would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Wright, Cherise Bludau-Branch and the staff at Port Lavaca Nursing and Rehab and Trinity Shores.
