The Calhoun County Museum, in Port Lavaca, has opened an exhibit of Civil War Artifacts. The exhibition is scheduled to run until May 1, 2012.
Included in the exhibit are minié bullets, belt buckles, cannonballs and more.
In addition to the Civil War exhibit, you will find many other interesting items dealing with the life and times of Calhoun County. Of special interest is the Fresnel Lens from the 1852 Matagorda Island Lighthouse, an 8-foot-diorama of the town of Indianola. and the La Salle Odyssey exhibit.
The Calhoun County Museum, located at 301 S. Ann in Port Lavaca, is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Admission is free.
