With deer season in full swing hunters are asked to participate in the Texas Hunters for the Hungry, a program providing wild game meat to local area food banks. According to the program, hunters can bring their tagged, legally harvested dear to a participating meat processor and pay a nominal processing fee. The venison is processed into burger and stored for food assistance providers. The program also accepts monetary donations, and opportunities are available to raise money in communities to offset processing fees. For more information call the program at 800-992-9767 ext. 506, or visit www.tacca.org.
