Team Butterballs won first place in fried turkey and first place in candied yams in the November 19th Turkey Cookoff held at Josie’s Mexican Food and Cantina. Team members and their support team were Jim and Jess Reed, Leroy and Karen Smith, John Wyatt and Lori Stafford.
Taking first place in smoked turkey was Eloisa Newsome. Sandy Taylor and Curtis Gosnell made the best Sangria.
Proceeds from the cook-off were given to the Port O’Connor Volunteer Fire Department. Turkeys were vacuumed packed and donated to the Port O’Connor Thanksgiving Baskets.
