What an exciting Easter Week! Approximately 350 to 400 people gathered at the Church Fellowship Hall last Saturday afternoon for the Annual Children’s Easter Egg Hunt. There were probably 150 children and the rest were parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. Over 800 eggs were hidden and all but eight eggs were found. Everyone had a great time and even the toddlers found eggs. Candice Stryker handled the affair with professionalism. All the guests were served refreshments and the 2012 Egg Hunt is now history. Thanks go out to Candice Stryker and all of her “youth helpers” and the church members and friends who donated candy to fill the plastic eggs and cookies for refreshments.

The Port O’Connor Easter Sunrise Service set a record attendance again! 400 to 500 people gathered on the beach front at King Fisher Pavilion at 7:00 a.m. for the annual Easter service. The weather was perfect – low wind and no mosquitoes, partly cloudy skies, a full moon, and a beautiful sunrise! Raymond Grant led the group in singing two Easter hymns and the First Baptist Choir sang a beautiful special. Brother Donnie Martin read the Bible Scripture and Fisherman’s Chapel Pastor, Bro. Erny McDonough, delivered a super Easter message. Everyone enjoyed the hot coffee, orange juice and the hot homemade rolls contributed by Cathy’s Restaurant.

The Easter Sunday morning service at the Church was crowded with members, guests, and friends. It was definitely a full church! Bro. Raymond Grant preached an outstanding Children’s Sermon and the Choir sang “Then Will the Very Rocks Cry Out”. Bro. Donnie Martin preached an inspirational Easter message. I was very happy to have my son Jerry and his wife Sandy in the service, along with my granddaughter Michelle and husband Jeff Ellis and my 11-month-old grandson, Jaxson. What a blessing for me this Easter!

Many of our church members are busy planning and cooking for the upcoming Warriors Weekend on May 18-19.

Vacation Bible School will be June 11-14 and the theme is “Amazing Wonders Aviation”. The VBS will be held each day from 9:00 a.m. until noon. The church van will be picking up the children each day.

Youth Camp will be Monday, June 25 through Friday, June 29 at Camp Zephyr in Sandia, Texas.

See you in church Sunday!
