We are involved in an exciting study at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday morning. We have been looking at “the 29th Chapter of Acts”. You Bible students believe this to be a misprint or a misnomer, but it is not! We believe that “The Acts of the Apostles” is still going on today. We believe it is happening all around this world through some extra ordinary and some just plain ordinary folks. We have been receiving reports of some great revivals that are happening around the world. Brazil has over 23 million Christians; South Korea, better than 3 million; China has over 100 million; and Cuba has over 6,000 churches – with at least one church in every city and town. The government is now allowing congregations to own their own property for the first time in 53 years. Bible schools are now opening and the “Kindle Fire” has been loaded with everything a pastor will need to earn a Bachelor’s Degree and are being given to those who are reaching people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
These are exciting days for the spreading of the Gospel overseas, but also here at home. This past Sunday, Barbara Brooks, one of the founders of Victoria’s Christ’s Kitchen, shared with us what is going on with that and other ministries. This soup kitchen, which has been operated for 27 years, has fed well over 1 million meals. They are providing for people who otherwise would live without. Produce is being gleaned from local grocery stores and meat is being donated to area slaughter houses, who inspect and process it for the kitchen. It is a worthy ministry. Those who want further information about how to assist this needy ministry that is doing great things for the Lord can make contact with them at Christ’s Kitchen, PO Box 3391, Victoria, TX 77901.
We heard from an evangelist, the Reverend Gene Summers, who is seeing over 500 come to Christ each year. This is just one evangelist couple – I wonder how man couples are working together in our local churches?
We sincerely believe that every person who knows Jesus as their personal Savior should be working to share the Gospel message with others, wherever they might be! Our Bible Study is attempting to spark that fire in all of us. You are welcomed to come and be a part!
We have three special guests coming to the Chapel pulpit this month of June. On June 10, our own “wounded warrior” Hermano Jessie will be preaching in the morning service. On June 13, our own Patrick Overton will be ministering. On Sunday,June 24, my very close friend for over 25 years, the Reverend Larry Lamphier, will be here for the morning service only. These will be very special times, and we trust you will make a special effort to be a part of them.
Father’s Day will be celebrated in both the morning and evening services, and each dad present will receive a special gift. I am sure no one could guess what the gift will be, but if you have been to any of our Father’s Day celebrations, you know that our Mothers always want to know why they did not receive the same gift! Come, bring your dad, and enjoy a special celebration of fatherhood.
On a personal note, we will be traveling to central Arkansas to be with my dad for a few days this month. Please continue lifting my dad in your prayers. AND our older daughter, Crystal, will be coming with her husband Jake and their children for a short visit later this month. These will be special days for us and we hope to share some of them with you!
Friday Night Youth will be continuing during the summer, but there will be a few nights that we will have to cancel due to other commitments. We have three or four fishing tournaments that we are involved in, in differing ways. But, we will have FNY every Friday that is possible.
You will always find a warm welcome at the Chapel. “Come, grow with us!”
