Seadrift: Mrs. Dessaline Spriggs-Barefield, 103, a lifelong resident of Calhoun County, Seadrift, Texas entered into eternal rest on October 30, 2012 in Houston, Texas. Mrs. Barefield was born April 12, 1909 in Refugio, Texas, the oldest of 12 children, to Andy and Frankie Evelyn Rimms Spriggs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Theodore (Red) Barefield, to whom she was united in marriage for sixty-six years; son, Freddie Lee Barefield; parents; nine sisters and one brother.

Mrs. Barefield is survived by her children, sons: John Alvin Barefield of Seadrift, TX; Erris Douglas Barefield of Amarillo, TX and Robert Lee Barefield of Hampton, VA; daughters: Isabell Jones of Round Rock, TX, Wanda L. Gregg of Denver, CO, and Frankie Taylor of Houston, TX; and sister, Joyce Spriggs of Richmond, TX. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life was held November 8, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Seadrift. Interment followed at Community Cemetery in Refugio, Texas. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.richardsoncolonial.com
