You’ve probably heard the rumors, and they are true. Bryn R. Wilburn, Public Relations Manager for Family Dollar has confirmed that Family Dollar is building a store on Highway 185 in Seadrift. It is slated to open in the second half of 2013 and will employ 8 to 10 persons.
Local realtor, Kathleen Lambright, reports that all site plans have been approved and building permits issued. She credits William “Kelly” Hawes having the foresight to sell his lots to the Hutton Company who are the acquisition company for Family Dollar Stores for this welcome addition to our area.
Family Dollar is a discount retailer that carries national name brands and quality private brands. Speaking for Family Dollar, Bryn Wilburn said, “Our merchandise is first-run from the manufacturer. We do not carry over-runs or seconds. Through our buying power, we’re able to work with the leading domestic manufacturers to offer our products at prices that are typically below supermarkets, drug stores or convenience stores.”
According to Ms. Lambright, the proposed structure will be approximately 8,000 sq. ft. with paved parking to accommodate 31 vehicles, including three handicap spots.
