The outpouring of love toward Joane and me has been amazing to us. We know that Papaw was truly loved in this community, but many have gone to extra lengths to express that love in many ways. Flowers, meals, visits, phone calls, and even stopping us around town to tell about something that Papaw did or a story about your interaction with him is a great source of comfort. Thank you for loving Papaw and us! He is being greatly missed!
What a great First Aid Course was provided here at the Chapel with Captain Robert of the Sea Academy serving as our instructor. We had 26 people who took the course and are now ready to provide assistance to people in trauma in our community! Thank you, Captain Robert and thank you who spent a Sunday afternoon at the Chapel taking the class!
We enjoyed the recent ministry of Pastor Joane, Hermano Jessie, and Patrick. Also, we were blessed with the opportunity to hear Missionary Keith Womack about his work in the Silk Road area of the Far East. Missionary Womack is teaching English in a university in a Muslim community, so he has opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with them. The results are slow because of the restriction he has in sharing the Gospel, but his dedication was evident to all who attended. Please join us in praying for missionaries wherever they are spreading God’s Word and thank God He has not called you to that task!
The second Sunday of February is the anniversary date of our coming to help begin Fisherman’s Chapel. It has been 18 years since we first came and began preaching and leading this congregation to do a work for the Lord and reach people who were not being reached. Thank God for allowing us the opportunity to work in this community and may He continue helping us work so His Kingdom business will be accomplished in Port O’Connor! Thank you for allowing us to serve you, and if Jesus delays His Coming, we are looking to at least 18 more years with you before being “planted”.
We just completed our first Captain’s Class here at the Chapel and announce that the next class will begin on April 5. Captain Robert, the class instructor, has never had a student fail this course who took the classes here at the Chapel – we believe it is because we pray for them! Those interested in becoming a boat captain should contact the Sea Academy at 361/758-6184 or Captain Robert at 361/816-3010.
Our Annual Meeting of the Members will be at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, February 24. This is the time we review our finances, hear the “Pastor’s Report”, and elect Board Members. Every member of the Chapel is expected to be present and everyone who is interested in the work of the Chapel is invited.
Fisherman’s Chapel is an interdenominational congregation – which simply means that everyone is invited, regardless of denominational persuasions. Our goal is to help every citizen of our community have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Knowing that we are all different, none of us will have the same relationship with Christ, but we can become a part of a Church family that is supportive and relevant. Please know that a warm welcome awaits you at the Chapel, and you are urged to, “Come, grow with us!”
