Just stopping by to welcome Spring to this great community I feel so blessed call home. The Port O Connor Service Club held their meeting on Thursday, March 5, 2013. It was good to see lots of members back and taking a part. Save your pennies and nickels, you’re going to need them. Our POC Service Club Spring Garage Sale will be a grand opportunity to discover great used treasures and enjoy exceptional baked goods prepared by some outstanding cooks. It will be at the community center on Saturday, April 16th from 8-3. We are still taking donations of gently used clothes, household goods and furniture. Call Lydia Strakos (983-2003) or Susie Onishi (983-0202) for help with donations, or drop them off at the county barn behind the JP offices.
The Service Club would like to give a special Thank You to Jim Butler of Vinson Boat Stalls for donating storage space in his boat storage for our overflow garage sale items. Your help is greatly appreciated Jim! Members don’t forget to bring your baked goodies to the pavilion on Saturday morning, 4/16. All of our proceeds help us award annual scholarships to deserving grads in our community, reward our honor roll students, support Wounded Warriors Weekend, and support other community projects and events.
We have some special opportunities and great events in our little town at the end of the road, don’t we? The Boy Scout Fundraiser was a smashing success and the food was delicious. Saturday, March 16th you will have to hurry to make all the events that are scheduled. The booths are set up and the baked goods are ready even as you are reading this for the inaugural Lions Club Art Festival on Saturday, March 16th from 9-4. ‘We are POC’ Relay for Life team will be having a bake sale at Speedy Stop from 7-11. The annual Easter Sunrise Community Celebration will be at 7 AM Sunday, March 31 in the front beach pavilion. Meetings continue for planning and preparation for our Wounded Warriors Weekend coming May 17-19 and additional events are already in the works. Stay tuned and we will keep you informed.
