It is that time of year again when we celebrate Memorial Day and remember the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Memorial Day falls on Monday, May 27, but the weekend before is usually a time for enjoying family time together with picnics and outings.

If your family plans to spend Saturday, March 25th in Port O’Connor, we invite you to join in our kite flying contest at King Fisher Beach. This yearly event, sponsored by the Port O’Connor Chamber of Commerce, is open to all ages and all types of kites (store bought or homemade).

The kites are set to start flying at 1:00 p.m., but registration will begin at 12:00 noon. Prizes will be given to all participants and awards will be given for Best Kite, Highest-flying Kite, and the Kite in the Air the Longest.

We encourage all ages to come out and fly your kites and have some fun in the sun and wind. Bring your kites, lawn chairs, and, most importantly, your families out to celebrate.
