A new Zone, number 12, has been formed by the Lions Club District 2-S4 which consists of five local Lions Clubs. The five are Seadrift Lions Club, Port O’Connor Lions Club, Austwell-Tivoli Lions Club, Port Lavaca Noonday Lions Club and Port Lavaca Evening Lions Club. Our new Zone 12 Leader is Lion Lynn Reeves who is also the President of the Seadrift Lions Club. Lion Lynn is doing a great job in her new position and we do appreciate her good work.

Zone meetings are held four times a year throughout the District to discuss projects of service to the various communities while sharing ideas and accomplishments. With the smaller number of Clubs in this zone it is much easier to attend as we don’t have to travel such a long distance as before.

The Port O’Connor Lions Club is preparing to host the Second Zone 12 meeting of the year on Thursday, November 14th at 6:30 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church. We have been busy preparing to host the other four Clubs with a very good dinner menu and also by gathering some nice door prizes to make the meeting more fun.

The first ever Zone 12 meeting was hosted by Port Lavaca Evening Club and they did a terrific job. It will be difficult to follow them, but we will try.

The Port O’Connor Lions Club’s latest community project was to sponsor swimming lessons for the children of Port O’Connor. We have also gathered about sixty or more pairs of used glasses to be sent for refurbishment and given to those who cannot afford to pay for glasses. Our collection box is in Cathy’s Restaurant located at Byers and Highway 185 (Adams St.). We appreciate Cathy’s letting us place our box there and if you have any used eyeglasses we would appreciate your donation to be placed in the box. Some of our residents have already donated their used eyeglasses and we appreciate your donation also. We sent off another 48 pairs of glasses previously.
