Good news! We’ve secured the property for our new library/learning center! The “Friends” Board of Directors has been working hard to make this dream come true. Board member, Vera Wiatt, has pursued the “red tape” tirelessly to bring about this miracle. Now there are still some legalities to be set in place before we can start some serious fundraising. Stay tuned for details as we move along!
Our Spaghetti Dinner plans are underway for an evening of ambience and good dining. A program following the meal will include several community leaders championing the goal of a state-of-the-art facility to enhance and provide a learning environment for all Port O’Connor residents and visitors. Board member, Melissa Doggett, is looking into having artwork by POC children displayed at the event. The kids will create a work of art depicting what they want our new library to look like. Ursula Price is masterminding all the dinner preparations to make sure all guests enjoy a delicious spaghetti dinner with all the trimmings! Other board members, Paula McCauley, Barbara Crouch, Mary Ann Claibourne, Carl Ray, Leon Brown, Joanne Ward, and Sue Kubecka, are also doing multiple tasks to make the Friday evening April 25 event a huge success! Immediately following the 6 pm meal, the program will begin. “Friends” want all our citizens to be fully informed of the new library/learning center plans and look forward to providing exciting information for the months ahead. Donations will be welcome and we hope many POC’ers will join us!
