What a fantastic time we had at the Fall Senior Adult Camp at Camp Zephyr. Our Church was well represented by twelve attending. This included Kenneth and Grady Jean Clark, Doyle Adams, Alice Pittman, Donnie and Shirley Martin, Mary Nell McGee, Rupert and Irene Sorrow and Tommy and Brenda Smith. It is difficult to say what was the most impressive at the Camp. The music was “out of this world” with solos by Donnie Martin and piano solos by Shirley Martin, quartets, duets by Marcos and Sue Gohlke and many, many others. The preaching by Cowboy Church Pastor David Parks was great. The devotions by George Yarbrough were very thought provoking and, as usual, the Bible Teaching on “Ezra” by Dr. Jimmy Arnold was exceedingly professional and a real “eye opener”. The food at each meal was delicious along with the home baked goods for refreshments at the breaks. I would have to give this year’s Fall Senior Adult Camp an “A Plus”. The cost for a motel room, all meals and a money-back guarantee is $100.00 per person. The next Senior Adult Camp is the Spring 2015 Camp, which is March 2-5, 2015. Make your plans now to attend. If you need additional information, call Donnie Martin at 983-2727 or Doyle Adams at 983-4866.
Last Sunday’s services were well attended and Bro. Martin’s morning service was one that really reached down into your heart. Bro. Raymond Grant’s children’s sermon was well received by children and adults alike. Before Bro. Martin’s sermon, the Adult Choir sang “Steppin’ On The Clouds”.
The evening service was great as many of those who attended the Senior Adult Retreat gave testimonies of their experiences.
The recent Church “Birthday Bash” celebrating with those who had birthdays in July, August and September, was another Big Success. We had home-made ice cream and cakes and all were delicious and all you could eat.
The Church is now in the midst of “Operation Christmas Child”, the 2014 Christmas Shoe Box Campaign. Empty shoe boxes are available in the church foyer with an instruction pamphlet on how to pack your shoe box. Make a child happy somewhere in the world by packing a shoe box. The boxes will be picked up November 9, 2014. So don’t delay.
The Church Youth will have a “Trick or Treat” this year EXCEPT they will not ask for candy, but canned goods or food stuffs for the Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets for Port O’Connor needy families. The collected food will be delivered to Fisherman’s Chapel for distribution.
See you in church Sunday!
