Former Port O’Connor resident J.B. Nelson was recently inducted into the Texas Domino Hall of Fame during the Texas State Championship tournament in Hallettsville.
Born and raised in Dallas, Nelson said he began playing dominoes around the same time he learned to talk. His daddy was an avid player, and Nelson said he’d go to just about every game with him and was allowed to keep score. Before moving to Hallettsville in 2003, Nelson played in many tournaments in Texas, Louisiana and Alabama. He took home the World Championship in 2001. Nelson is the oldest person to be inducted into the Texas Domino Hall of Fame at age 86. He also proudly claims to have played billions of games in his lifetime.
