Ed Harvey Family fishing with Castaway Lodge

Pre front action over mud and grass pockets lit up the day with Capt. James Cunningham and Capt. Chris Cady bending the boards with Trout & Redfish. Capt. Chris Cady lit out with guests of Roger Camp and Camp Construction working topwaters and soft plastics wade fishing the back lakes. Capt. James Cunningham had a mid-morning departure with Ed H. and family enjoying a fishing trip on the kids day off for Veteran’s Day.

Capt. Chris stayed with topwaters taking trophy class Redfish limits focusing on schools pushing the edges of shallow shorelines and grass beds. Topwater action had popped off pre-front last week and then died on us when it counted but that wasn’t the case yesterday. Trout action to near limits of “keeper fish” came to hand drifting with soft plastics in pumpkin/chart and plumb/chart being most effective.

Capt. James reported near limits of Redfish with lots of misses for the first timer’s. That’s all part of it and the kids and parents alike just had a great time. James was working with bait over mud/grass beds targeting shallower venues on elevated tides.

Cool Front

This little system isn’t enough to move some water and that’s what it’s going to take to get comfortable with duck concentrations. There’s lots of water on the prairies and we’ve got a ton of it in the bays yet and that’s not a good place for a duck hunter to get comfortable. On the flip side, fishing action should remain predictable based on current trends.
