Seadrift – Eva Belle Darst Holder passed from this life into eternity on November 27, 2015 in League City, Texas. She had recently celebrated her 91st birthday. She was born November 7, 1924 in DeWitt County, Texas to William and Denoria (Meeks) Darst. She was a descendant of the original Darst settlers in Texas who fought in the Texas Revolution. She married Jofred Charles Holder of Seadrift, Texas on November 30, 1941. They lived a long, fulfilling life together, brought two children into the world, blessed many friends through the years, were faithful Christians, and celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1991.
Eva was a beautiful woman who loved the Lord Jesus and her family. A woman of faith, she always served in her local church, teaching, singing, helping in whatever way was needed. She was a true homemaker: an excellent seamstress, an amazing cook, a wonderful hostess, a gifted decorator, a welcoming heart to all who came to her door. She loved beauty and filled her life and home with it. Her Christmas treats, such as divinity, peanut brittle, Martha Washington balls, fruitcakes, and pies were greatly enjoyed by all. She owned “Eva’s Pie Shoppe” at Canyon Lake, Texas for several years.
Her family was her greatest joy. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and all her siblings. She is survived by her daughter JoAn Holder Summers and husband Robert of Dallas, Texas, her son Timothy Charles Holder of Dickinson, Texas, her only grandchild, Kipling Summers of Arrington, Tennessee and his wife Valerie, and her two great-grandchildren Mackenzie and Riley Summers. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Her funeral was held on December 1 at Seadrift Assembly of God Church where she was known and loved. Interment followed in the Seadrift Cemetery.
“Her children rise up and call her blessed.” Proverbs 31:28.
