A great deal of work goes into Fashion Show participation. Participants must first decide what category they will participate in. Categories include: Everyday Living, ReFashion, Semi-formal to Formal, and Theatre/Costume. They spend hours sewing their entry. Participants must also fill out entry paperwork where they have to answer a host of questions including their project goals, outfit selection, knowledge of fiber and fiber characteristics, construction skills, and construction expenses; and to be able to answer those questions orally in front of a judge. They work a little each day so that they are ready by the Calhoun County Fashion show.
They were ready! Three Port O’ Connor Intercoastal 4-H girls participated in the County Fashion Show March. Maddie Hawes participated in Everyday Living and placed First. Rylie Ragusin participated in ReFashion and placed First. McKenna Guevara participated in ReFashion and placed Second.
Some to the careers you could pursue with a sewing background include:
• (Marine/aviation/ automotive) Upholstery
• Designer Clothing
• Making purses
• Saddles
• Awnings
We are proud of these 4-Her’s and wish them luck at District competition.
