SEADRIFT – Melvin Cleo Thompson, 100, of Seadrift passed away May 8, 2017. He was born February 11, 1917 in Gilmer, TX to the late Jim and Nora Sisson Thompson. Melvin worked for Brown and Root as a mill wright. He was known for his love of bass fishing and gardening and was a Deacon at First Baptist Church in Seadrift.
He is survived by his daughter; Linda Brasseux; son, Jerry Thompson; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Thompson and second wife, Lena Thompson; daughter, Betty Lively; son, Floyd Thompson; 1 sister and 1 brother
Funeral Services were held Thursday, May 11, 2017 in First Baptist Church of Seadrift with Brother Marcos Gohlke officiating. Burial followed in Seadrift Cemetery.

Pallbearers were the Deacon’s of First Baptist Church Seadrift. Honorary Pallbearers are Dennis Wittnebert Sr., Marcus Blevins, Mark Wittnebert, Ronald Wooldridge and Terry Maddux.
