Port O’Connor – Marvin Hileman, 89, passed away on May 28, 2017. He was born in Smackover, AR on February 15, 1928 to Joe Robert Hileman and Odie Mae Davis.
Marvin served in the U.S. Army and received the WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal.
He retired in 1989 from Mobil Oil Company and continued as an industry Consultant for many years. His career took him to numerous locations around the world including Canada, Scotland, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Indonesia and others.
Marvin and Biddie continued to travel the world after retirement. Marvin was an avid fisherman and hunter and a recognized member of the Port O’Connor fishing community. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Vida ‘Biddie’ Marcelle Gillespie; his daughter, Susan Kay Cochran and husband Michael, sons Marvin ‘Randy’ Hileman and wife Atin, Richard ‘Ricky’ Hileman and wife Tancy, 22 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jo Hileman and two brothers Cecil ‘Tiny’ Hileman and Gene Aaron Hileman.
Funeral services were held on June 2, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Port O’Connor, with Brother Donnie Martin officiating. Interment followed at Port O’Connor Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons Randal Winkler Hileman, Richard Marcelle Hileman, Marvin Raymond Hileman, Marvin Blaine Williams, Steven Clay Williams and great grandson Colton Matthew Williams.
Honorary Pall Bearers were Darden Matthew Williams, Revano Harahap and Renando Harahap.
