Victoria College’s Allied Health Continuing Education Department will offer two new training courses beginning this fall.
VC will begin a Veterinary Assistant Course in September and a Pharmacy Technician Course in October.
“Victoria College is excited about adding these courses,” said VC Allied Health Continuing Education Director Shari Gould. “It has been determined that there is a local demand for veterinary assistants and pharmacy technicians, and VC is pleased to partner with Condensed Curriculum International to offer these classes.”
The 100-hour Veterinary Assistant Course will be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays (plus four Saturdays) from Sept. 26 to Dec. 12. Classes will meet from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at VC’s Emerging Technology Complex and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the four Saturdays. The cost for tuition and textbooks for the class will be $1,899.
Veterinarian assistants in the Crossroads region make an average of $10.53 per hour, according to CareerCoach.com.
The Pharmacy Technician Course will include 50 hours of classroom training plus an 80-hour clinical externship. Classes will meet from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from Oct. 10 to Dec. 5 at VC’s Emerging Technology Complex. The cost for tuition and textbooks for the class will be $1,199.
According to CareerCoach.com, the average hourly wage for a pharmacy technician in the Crossroads region is $15.90.
