Well, it surely is hot in Texas! POC has been hot too. That hasn’t stopped our visitors, fishing tourneys and other summer fun. Our new front beach area is really busy too! Hope everyone is enjoying their break from school and schedules and having some fun with friends and family. POC Service Club members are doing the same. We meet only one time per month during summer months and rely on emails and texts as well as the POC Social Media sites to stay informed and involved.

We were sad to cancel our All-American Family Fun Day due to weather. It has been rescheduled and will be better than ever. It’s coming in September, so stay tuned for dates and details. You won’t want to miss it!

Please use the Pet Potty Disposal Stations at front beach that were donated by POC Service Club. Keep Kingfisher Beach Clean and POC Proud!

We are looking forward to the Fall Garage Sale scheduled for the first Saturday in October. We are collecting and sorting quality used clothing and household goods for that sale and the proceeds benefit our home town. If you need information on making donations, please call Donna Vuichard at 361-237-0476.

Summer is still a good time to get involved. Come to our next meeting. Remember our summer schedule means we meet only one time each month. So, join us the 1st Thursday of each month at 10:00 a.m. in the POC Community Center. The air conditioner works and making new friends while volunteering makes you cool. Really!

So, until next time, be safe, live simply, love openly, forgive generously and remember this quote from the great theologian and humanitarian Albert Schweitzer who said, “The purpose of human life is to serve and show compassion and the will to help others. Get out and help one another…it feeds your heart and renews your soul.” Come on by for some heart health and soul care.
