School has started, and the rainy weather makes you almost feel like we might have Fall soon. The POC Service Club has also gotten back to work. New officers were approved at our 1st September meeting. We are please to announce that these ladies will be leading the charge for the next year: President Donna Vuichard, Vice President Marie Hawes, Secretary Mary Wygrys and Treasurer Nan Burnett. Welcome to this new group. We say a big ‘Thank You’ to departing officers Linda Orrick, Peggy Elliot, Sam Burnett. You have done a great job! You have earned a well-deserved break. Don’t think we don’t have plenty of jobs for you still to do but enjoy a slower pace as you step down from the board for a time. Thanks again for your service.

The October Garage Sale is almost here. Saturday, October 6th at 8:00 a.m. we will open the sale and again raise money for scholarships and community projects here in POC. Our ladies will be baking homemade goodies for the Bake Sale and there will be every kind of trinket and treasure available for sale. Our famous ‘Bag Sale’ will begin at 12:00 Noon and we will close the cashier tables for a few short minutes before the bag sale to get ready. We will still donate the remaining items to charity like always. So, whether you are a regular and can’t wait to find this year’s big discovery or if you have never been to one of these sales, come join us. You won’t be disappointed.

If you have quality goods to donate to our sale, please bring them to the Community Center Pavilion on Thursday afternoon or Friday morning before the sale. Our members will help you unload right there. we ask that you please do not pre-shop on Thursday or Friday. Those are work days and only members are allowed in the sale area; so please don’t be mad when we kindly ask you to leave. Come early on Saturday for the best bargains and trendiest treasures, but unless you are dropping off donations no one is allowed before then. Thanks for your cooperation!

Our much anticipated All American Family Fun Day set for September 15th has again been weather delayed. We are trying to reconsider but no new date is set at this time. We can’t control the weather, but we do have a choice about how we react when it interrupts our plans. Go ahead! Dance in the rain!

I know it seems early to be talking about Holiday Happenings, but please mark your calendar and save the date. Friday, December 7th will be the Annual POC Community Service Club Christmas Luncheon. Great Food, Fun Friends, and special surprises in store for those who attend.

We are back on schedule with two meeting each month at the POC Community Center. We welcome women who want to join on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month at 10:00 a.m. No special requirements to come and be a part of this great group of women making a difference in their hometown.

So, until next time, be safe, live simply, love openly, forgive generously and remember this quote from the late American entrepreneur and great motivator of people Jim Rohn who said, “Whoever renders service to many
put himself in line for greatness – great wealth, great return, great satisfaction, great reputation, and great joy.”

Come on by and we can help you be great too!
