After such a dry summer, everyone was saying how we needed rain, of course when it started, as usual it did not stop until we were almost flooded. This is what usually happens in our area. But “Thanks” goes to our County Commissioner, Mr. Kenny Finster, along with Elroy Bell and other county employees. The mosquito spraying trucks were out before daylight most mornings. King Fisher Park has been mowed and kept in good condition, I went down and encountered a few mosquitoes, but it could have been so much worse. I had people calling the Chamber about the issue, but with the rain we had, it was sure to have problems.
The Chamber president, Darla Parker and Kacie Skalak put together an entry for the Calhoun County Fair Parade. Hopefully local businesses will support our local 4-H children at the Fair; they work hard with their entries.
Looking forward to announcing that the new website for the Chamber is up and running this month. This has been a process to bring more awareness to our community.
With October comes Halloween. Port O’Connor School will have a Carnival on the 27th, followed by Trunk or Treat, spearheaded by Mary Francis Bauer, beginning at 6:30 pm, so get your vehicle and yourself spooked out for this event at King Fisher Park.
If you want to get involved with the Chamber and would like to be on the ballot for 2019 director, please contact the Chamber:
