We had a wonderful turn-out for the most recent Port O’Connor Community Service Club meeting, but there is always room for more and ladies of all ages are welcome to join us! The Service Club meets twice monthly at the POC Community Center and new members are always welcome. Meetings are at 10 a.m. on the 1st & 3rd Thursdays each month (except for May through August plus December, when we meet only on the 1st Thursday).
The Service Club is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Port O’Connor community by providing support and funds for programs and events for the betterment of this community. If you are looking for a way to give back to the Port O’Connor community, come join us!
Along with many other organizations and businesses in Port O’Connor, the Service Club is grateful to have been able to provide support to our local Coast Guard station personnel with a donation of fifty-six $20 gift cards and a whole lot of frozen casseroles!
Highlights of some upcoming projects include:
February 14 –The annual Sweetheart Banquet sponsored by the First Baptist Church with support provided by Service Club members.
April 6 – our semi-annual community-wide Garage & Bake Sale. The sale will run from 8 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and will be closed from 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon when final sales will be handled; then the “BAG SALE” will re-open at noon and run until 1 p.m.
To donate gently used and “in good condition” items please contact either Susie DuBoise (818-203-2612) or Donna Vuichard (361-237-0476). Note any furniture donations need to be inspected first, so please contact Susie or Donna to make arrangements. These garage sales are the Service Club’s primary fund-raising events that make it possible for us to fund many other community projects, as well as a scholarship fund for local students. As always, we appreciate the support received from our local community!
