Birthday Parties are more fun on an Airboat! Fishing is the gift that keeps on giving! -Capt. Jeff Larson

Spring is in full swing and the weather isn’t as stable or consistent as we would like to see it. Getting out there with good equipment ie. rain gear and waders has made some sketchy weather days worth fishing. I always recommend investing in the high end jackets they last longer over time plus they have zippers and cuffed sleeves that add to your comfort during a rainy windy day out on the water. The wind, well that’s just part of Texas Coastal Fishing. Catching has been steadier than the weather. Tides have been normal and relatively high due to the east winds.

What do you want to catch? Trout, they have been available wading or out of the boat. Live Bait is always a good choice to catch a bunch of ‘em. Live shrimp under a popping cork drifting over grass beds or open bay reefs can get the job done. Live Croakers when you can get them are starting to be effective in the boat or wade fishing.

Trout action is still on the up swing so come on down!

Reds, they are everywhere you go, from the Beach to the Back Lakes. From flys to frozen sardines, they are eating it. We have been having some great Airboat Redfishing Trips. There are a few Black Drum that have been mixed in and adding to the pile pic.

It was my pleasure to host an all Girls 10 year old Airboat Redfishing Birthday Party. Airboat fishing is so much fun in the new Air Ranger. These girls loved the Airboat Ride as much as catching a box full of fish. They had near limits of reds and a few drum in just a couple of hours of the party. Once they had a few pulls they are ready to hit the beach. Young novice Fisherladies are so much easier than the blood thirsty catch em all Fishers. These trips are so memorable because it’s a unique experience at such a young age. It Builds the Heritage! Family Memories! And forms a tighter bond. When they get older they will have more fish under their belt than their high school sweet heart. What a great time and great memories for all of us. The rush of the rods bending over at max capacity, hearing the girls screaming ”Fish-On!” coupled with “This is so much fun!” makes me smile from ear to ear. It’s a great compliment for guides when they hear the positive words of kids who are having so much fun on their boat.

Flounder, wanna catch flounder? Well they are a bonus to any cooler full of fish but the biggest majority of flatties have been coming into the cleaning tables at night. Gigging is the key to filling the cooler full of flounder. Compared to last year, it’s a banner year already. We have all the flounder guides on speed dial if you want to parlay your fishing trip with a flounder pounder gig trip. These trips can be done wading or out of the boat. Walking is preferred when the tide is too far out to get up on the exposed sand bars. Depending on your spunk and testosterone levels, I recommend you tie the flounder trip after your fishing trip because fishing the next day is tough when you gig all night. Request a late check out when you do an all nighter. Trust me its not like your old school days. Fish, gig and go to school. It wipes me out for 2 days. I have scheduled all year, fish-gig-fish-fish-fish-Vacation…..

I mentioned drum, they are a bonus while you are bait fishing the back lakes and they are great table fair. Don’t turn your nose up on a cooler full of puppy drum.

The jetty Sheepshead run has been replaced with the aforementioned species.

We have been catching a few keeper sheeps when using shrimp on the reefs if you still want to target them.

Sharks are definitely showing up. We haven’t targeted them as of late but summer is right around the corner.

Any body counting the days til Dove or Duck Season?? MEXICO dove season starts the 1st week of August. We have!Teal will be here before you know it. Billy is on standby to fit you in on the calendar. Billy’s direct hot line is 713 907 4796.

Y’all come wet a line,
