It’s that time of year to take off your mask and start sharing Duck Blinds. I know DANG GOOD & WELL not one of you wore a mask while Teal Hunting! Lol…. If you did, you wouldn’t have made it in my blind. No Bananas and No Masks!

I just got off the phone with Captains Jake Huddleston and My favorite son Capt. Brennen Larson. They both had great fast action stories. Captain Jake H. said that every client he booked had their 6 or close to it. Wow. That’s some great success. He was a little concerned about the norther pushing some out to Mexico but it actually brought more in to his Hunting Ponds and Roost. Jake definitely has the advantage when it comes to inland duck hunting in Calhoun County. His tenure as a Calhoun County native has made him the best to go with when you can find a spot.

Now to the Rookie Report Captain BDL whack’d ‘em hard he said. He had a 3 man limit within a few minutes after sun up. Brennen runs his Teal hunts in East Bernanrd area. It’s part of the Golden Rice Triangle dating back over a century. Legends are made up in that country. He runs with the Pradera Hunting Club, Andrew Boettcher’s Gang, they had great decoying action after the sun came up. They ended up with limits everywhere.

I didn’t get to open Teal Season but I did kill limits of White Wings. Everyone shot 2 to 3 cases of shells per day. I burnt my forearm from the heated gun barrel of my Weatherby 12. No plugs and white wings swarming is a recipe for glowing barrels.

If you are having some slow Dove Hunts please give me a call. You will shoot more in 2 days than you will all season. I must admit yesterday I stopped just under 50 birds because my shooting was horrible. Probably only getting 10 birds a box, if that. Horrible. The more I tried the worse it got. I threw my hands up, I quit!

Oh, another great Teal Report from Captain Matt Greenwood. His Waterfowl Mecca is on the North Side of the Triangle. Orchard, Sealy, Simonton areas. So I asked Matt how’d it go?

Immediate response was “EPIC!” I didn’t ask but that means limits by sunrise. You might ask how to get a hold of Captain Matt??? Don’t bother; his waterfowl season is booked a year in advance. No kidding, he said he might can work me in the middle of the week if someone catches the virus, lol.

I hate I missed the Teal opener. That’s the way it goes when you spread yourself thin.

Its not looking like Canada borders are going to open up this year. If you are looking for an out of country wing shoot, Mexico is wide open. My friend Renee Castillo owns the Loma Colorado Lodge, he has a 5 star place with all the bells & whistles and has room for Big Corporate Groups. He has a full time chef that can make a duck breast taste like filet mignon. We always take Renee up on an invite to eat at his Lodge. You won’t loose any weight going there for a few days.

Fall is approaching, the hoax is dieing, it’s time to get out doors. We will be cranking our Cast and Blast deals. So if you want to entertain the family on weekend you will need to get some dates together and get on the books. Don’t hesitate! Let’s make some plans.

Hope everyone is looking forward to another great waterfowl season. I know I am, until about January and I’m ready to quit. See, we go until the end of February South of the Border.

Give me a call anytime!
