Kenneth Reese
“Paying It Forward”

Seadrift’s top vote-getter in the May 1st City Council Election was Kenneth Reese. A man loved and respected by many, Kenneth is known for his good nature and his willingness to contribute to the Seadrift community. It appears that one of Kenneth’s life goals is to “pay it forward.” His parents were prime examples of “paying it forward” in how they lived out their lives. Kenneth’s dad, Floyd “Rusty” Reese, aside from his job with CPL for thirty-two years, was an active member of the Lion’s Club and Kiwanis Club. Kenneth’s mom. Catherine Reese, worked as a librarian and was a Cub Scout den mother. Kenneth had two brothers, Jeffrey and Gary. Jeffrey passed in 2003.

Kenneth and his wife of fifty-two years, Barbara, have one son, C.C., and his wife, Sabrina. They, also, have two granddaughters, Bethany and Brittany, and two great granddaughters, Audrianna and Raelyn.

Kenneth was born in 1947, lived in Yorktown seven years, and in Nixon for four years. His family made it down to Seadrift in 1959. Kenneth graduated from C.H.S. in 1965. He worked selling soda bottles, mowing yards, worked in local businesses, and as a deckhand on his father-in-law’s Alcoa boat. For forty-five years Kenneth did power station work and was a shift supervisor for thirty-five of those years. He served six years as a board member of the Victoria Federal Credit Union with the last two years serving as President. Kenneth has self-published two books, “Boats and Blinds” and “Power House Chow.” “Boats and Blinds” is a collection of short stories and humorous hunting/fishing experiences. It was published in 2001. “Power House Chow” is a collection of recipes from Kenneth’s fellow power station employees and was published in 2020. Kenneth has served as “Seadrift Santa” for the past nine years.

Kenneth’s hobbies are woodworking, amateur archaeology, pool, reading, cars, photography, birds, fishing, hunting, and “piddling”.

After Kenneth retired he wanted to keep more in touch with city business and began attending council meetings on a regular basis. He says that he has seen Seadrift in the past years make a turn for the better. He wants to be a part of keeping our city moving in this positive direction. He says, “I want to see Seadrift grow and prosper so our kids and grandkids can grow up in this beautiful little town.”

Geoff Hunt
“Being Connected”

Geoff Hunt was the second top vote-getter in the Seadrift City Council Election on May 1st. Geoff says he is honored to be able to represent the Seadrift community. And Geoff is representing the community by being connected to an awesome team of people on the Seadrift City Council! Backing him up is Geoff’s beautiful wife Ashley and their three children, Natalie, who is fourteen, Olivia, who is twelve, and Aiden, who is, also, twelve. Ashley shows her support for Geoff each time she is able to come to one of Seadrift’s monthly City Council meetings. In spite of his busy schedule, Geoff makes the time to be involved with the City of Seadrift as much as he possibly can.

Geoff originally was from Kansas and moved to the Seadrift area when he was in junior high. He is a 2002 C.H.S. graduate. His career choice is working for the Port of Point Comfort as a tugboat captain which he has done for several years. Over the years Geoff said he developed an interest in being on the City Council.

Life has a way of giving us opportunities, and it appears that Geoff has made the most of the opportunity to serve the people in the Seadrift community. We are sure that there are many well-wishers for Geoff’s success while on the Seadrift City Council.

Tracey Johnson
“A New Face”

Tracey Johnson was third runner-up in the Seadrift City Council election on May 1st.
Here’s what Tracey has to say about being on the City Council: “I feel that a new face can and will bring new ideas. I know I am new to city government, but I am eager and willing to learn. I have several ideas that I want to work with the Mayor and Council on that will help make Seadrift the best community it can be.”

Tracey has been in Seadrift for sixteen years. Prior to coming to Seadrift, Tracey lived in College Station for nineteen years. There she worked as a dispatcher for the College Station Police Department. She, also, graduated from Sam Houston State University. Originally, she came from Pennsylvania and moved to Texas when she was ten years old.

Beyond her workplace at Coastline Trailers, Tracey loves to volunteer. She is a 2020 member of the Seadrift Fire Department and loves to volunteer at Seadrift’s Assembly of God Church where she became a member in 2018. For the past two years Tracey has served as president for the Seadrift Chamber. She, also, has served as its secretary.

Tracey has one daughter, Victoria Reyes. She has two dogs, Mocha and Bubba, and one cat, Cashew. Her hobbies are fishing, home interior crafts, and gardening.
