The first day of summer is right around the corner on Sunday, June 20. It is very obvious by the number of visitors we have had in our tiny town that people are ready to get out and do things! FBC has had more and more worshippers filling the pews each Sunday. Lots of extra outreach activities have been planned. Anyone and everyone is encouraged to attend them.

On Wednesday, May 26, Pastor Phillip grilled hot dogs for the POC Elementary School end of year party at Kingfisher Beach. All enjoyed the cookies, chips, and 100+ hotdogs we served. On Saturday, May 29, Pastor Phillip again grilled hotdogs at front beach. This time we were promoting Vacation Bible School July 11-14, to all the children and their families who were participating in the Chamber Fishing Tournament. That day, we distributed over 120 free hotdogs, plus cookies and chips. It was a fun day.

Saturday, June 5, the FBC youth held a bake sale in front of POC Hardware. (Many thanks to the store for letting us use part of their parking lot for this.) We have 20 youth and 7 teens going to the two camps this year. The cost per child averages out to about $200.00 each. The incredibly generous people of POC helped raise over $3,500.00 at this bake sale!!! That, plus money already donated, will assure that every youth who wants to attend, will be able to do so. Praise God.

Father’s Day is also on the first day of summer, June 20. The Fifth Commandment tells us ”Honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.” Take time to thank the Lord for your parents and to let them know how much you cherish them.

Our next “Birthday Bash” is going to be on Sunday, June 27 at 6:00 p.m. The church will be supplying hamburgers and everything else will be brought by all the eaters! (Desserts, condiments, vegetables, chips and dips, etc.) We will be celebrating the January-June birthdays, and everyone is invited, no matter when your birthday is. There will be a sign up sheet in the foyer or you can call the church for details. (361-983-2727)

Don’t forget that we have many other activities every week that you can be part of
