October is Pastor Appreciation Month. FBC Pastor Phillip Miller and his wife Katrina have been transplants in POC for almost two years now. Those months have overflowed with challenges for them, to say the least. COVID, church closings, outdoor services, social distancing, face masks, disinfecting every surface, are just a few. To make matters much worse, Pastor Phillip experienced major health issues as well. Thankfully, he is now recovering and restrictions on our daily activities have eased. Now the world can tilt back into a more normal routine for us all. All that said, FBC will be celebrating with Brother Phillip and Katrina, Brother Raymond Grant (our minister of youth and music) and his wife, Rhonda, at 6:00 p.m. October 24, in our Fellowship Hall. The basic meal will be soup, sandwiches and desserts. Bring a dish to share and come join the appreciation celebration!
TEAM KIDS is continuing to grow more exciting each week. It starts with a meal at 5:30 p.m. and continues with games, music and Bible study until 7:00 p.m. If you have a first through sixth grader or know of one, consider sending them on Wednesday nights. Our church bus is available to pick up kids. For information, call 361-983-2727.
It is almost time to send off the Samaritan’s Purse Shoe Boxes. They need to be delivered by November 15. Each Wednesday morning for the month of October, a group will be meeting at the church to fill and label the boxes. Come join the group and be part of this wonderful ministry.
The Community Food Pantry is always in need of donations, especially during the holidays. FBC has collection baskets in the foyer for your nonperishable food items. We deliver these to Fisherman’s Chapel to distribute to the needy in our community.
FBC is waiting to welcome you to any of our services and activities.
