Chantal-HawesChantal Marie Theodore Hawes, 84, of Port O’Connor, passed away on April 24, 2022 in Port O’Connor, with her family by her side.  Chantal was born in Dreux, France to Fernand and Marie Louise Pichot Theodore on October 12, 1937.

Chantal became a citizen of the United States of America in 1969.  She was active in her community of Port O’Connor, was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and owned and operated Chantal Boutique Resale Shop for 26 years, which was affectionately known as a “Little Walmart”.   She gave generously from her shop to those in need, and often gave to The Gabriel Project as well.  Chantal loved her family and friends and never met a stranger.  She will be missed by all who loved her.

In addition to her parents; Fernand George and Marie Louise Pichot Theodore, she is preceded in death by daughter; Nancy Harborth, sisters; Jocelyn Theodore, Nadine Theodore, and Charline Theodore, and brother; Jacky Theodore.

Chantal is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Alfred W. “Freddie” Hawes, Jr., sons; Timmy Amundson, Alfred W. “Walker” Hawes, III, Sean Hawes, and Michael M. Hawes, daughters; Stephanie Holt and Lisa Goode, sisters; Josselyne Couturier, Viviane Germaine, and Armelle L’enfant, sister-in-law; Christiane Theodore, seventeen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many other family and friends, all of whom will cherish her memory.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Port O’Connor with the Father Tommy Chen officiating.   Burial followed at Port O’Connor Cemetery.

Honoring her by serving as Pallbearers were her grandson; Sammy Holt, and brothers-in-law Leslie Hawes, Paul Hawes, Mark Hawes, Forrest Hawes, and Teddy Hawes.  Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be friends; Ralph Weathersby and Jerome Preslar, sons; Timmy Amundson, Alfred W. “Walker” Hawes, III, Sean Hawes, and Michael M. Hawes, brothers-in-law; Michael E. Hawes, Danny Bourg, John Stevenson, Blue Deckert, and John Hersey, and son-in-law; Freddie Harborth.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, P.O. Box 345, Port O’Connor, Texas 77982 or The Gabriel Project, P.O. Box 345 Victoria, Texas 77902.
