Barbara-Campbell
Jackie and Barbara Campbell

“We are so blessed and grateful!”

Jackie and Barbara Campbell have a legacy to fulfill. Generations on both sides of their families have enjoyed their faith and communicated it to their church and their community!

The following is Barbara’s story:

“My coming to Jesus moment was nothing earth shattering. I was in the 5th grade when my best friend Jeanette Burgess and I went forward and were baptized the same day.

As I grew older, I realized the importance of the faithfulness of my parents who were very faithful… attending church Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday nights. As kids we felt we missed a lot of things because we had church to go to, but these times were fun… being around other children, dinner on the grounds, ice cream and watermelon parties. My mom’s parents were very involved in their church, serving in Vacation Bible School, and having everyone over for ice-cold watermelon just to enjoy the fellowshipping. My dad’s parents were also involved with their church as well.”

Here is Jackie’s story as told by Barbara:

“His mom and his Grandmother Mullins were Jackie’s greatest influence. Also, the life of his dad had a great impact on Jackie. His dad passed on to him a love for music, wildlife skills, and was a Christian influence in his life.

Jackie gave his life to Christ in grade school and God gifted him with the ability to play music. His music touches people as they apply the words in their own hearts and situations. Jackie believes our mission is to spread the Word. People see how you operate – show your Christianity.”

Jackie and Barbara Campbell have been married thirty-five years. Barbara says when they were married Jackie “loaded me and all my belongings up in a cattle trailer.” Together they have three children, four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Monday nights at Seadrift First Baptist you will find Jackie, his brother Mike Campbell, and Ronnie Wooldridge at the church gym engaging kids with activities and a Bible study. This is all part of the church’s Kids for Christ youth ministry for 4th through 9th grades.

Wednesday nights at the church you’ll find Barbara, sister-in-law Vickie Campbell, Charlotte Wooldridge, Nancy Henson, and Betsy Cunningham conducting “Bible Journaling” classes for the youth.
Aside from Jackie and Barbara’s church activities, Jackie enjoys being a rancher and a fly-fishing guide. Barbara says her husband is a “Jack of all trades” and “can do anything and he does it well.” Jackie’s hobbies are his music and his specialty is his guitar picking. Jackie is a flint knapper. A flint-knapper is an arrowhead artisan who fashions out of rock arrowheads using the same technique that the Indians did. Jackie not only makes the arrowheads, but the arrow themselves and the bow that shoots the arrow. Jackie, also, enjoys gardening.
Barbara worked for AFLAC for forty years. AFLAC stands for “American Family Life Assurance Company.” AFLAC’s specialty is cancer supplemental insurance. Barbara’s hobbies are art and jewelry making. Barbara says, “My first is my family, being a mother, a grandmother, and a great grandmother.”

The following passages sums up Jackie and Barbara’s story:

“My Lord, You have been our dwelling from generation to generation. Before the mountains were born, or You gave birth to the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God!” Psalm 90:1-2
