The latest fundraiser benefiting the POC Community Center Facelift Project was held on Saturday, October 8, on the grounds of the Center. It was the first annual Clay Shoot hosted by the POC Community Service Club. Thirteen four-man teams plus two individuals competed for prizes. A list of all the winners is included in the Service Club article. It was a beautiful day and a very successful event for our Facelift Project. We are a long way from our goal of $150,000.00 for Phase I, but we are slowly gaining ground. Phase I will begin with the Pavilion. The kitchen area will be upgraded, the restrooms will be painted and refloored, paint and repair roof and replace tables and chairs. As more money is raised, the restrooms will be enlarged and more stalls added to both. Once the work on the pavilion is finished, the work on the main building will be started as funds become available.

A large replica of a thermometer will be erected on the center grounds near the highway, showing the progress of the fundraising. Watch the red line rise as collections grow!

Plans are already underway for the next fundraiser. Jose’s Mexican Restaurant has generously agreed to donate the proceeds from the Turkey Cook-off on November19, to the Facelift Project. There will be delicious food, raffles, a corn hole tournament and much more! Next time you are enjoying a delicious meal at Josie’s, be sure and thank them for their support of this project. We appreciate all that they do for the community.

There are other fund raisers in the planning stages. We so appreciate the community support this project is receiving. Thank you so much to everyone who is helping to make this dream come true.

Thank you to all who donated to the First Annual Clay Shoot!
