Most of you will understand my frustrations in rewriting this article. I had finished the text and was in the conclusion when something happened that caused me to lose the entire script. I wanted to let you know that Pastor Joane and I sincerely appreciate all the prayers that went Heavenward for us while she was away in Israel. She left on Monday after Christmas and returned back to Port O’Connor on the early morning of January 7. We expected to be home prior to midnight on Friday, but in Fort Bend County, we had an encounter with law enforcement! It was about 9:30 p.m. and I hit something with my right front tire that caused it to blow out. I could not physically change the tire, so I called 911. Soon a County Mounty was behind me making sure no one hit our van and providing security for us. They called a wrecker, which came from Katy and changed our tire. The totally unexpected thing about the event was their refusal to allow us to pay them anything for their trip or for their labor! Yes, it was a very slow trip from just outside Rosenberg to home, but we made it safely. Maybe the Fort Bend folks would prefer my not telling you about this service for us, but it happened, and I wish to say a huge “Thank you” to their Men in Blue! Next time we are driving through that area, I trust those of us from POC will be extra courteous toward all of them because the next time, you may need their services also!

Pastor Joane took the morning service on January 8 to tell us about the trip and show many of the pictures she took while there. Also, she presented each one a bottle of “Anointing Oil” and a vile of “Dead Sea Sand”. It was a very special service, and many are asking her to finish showing her pictures and explaining what she experienced while there. This Holy Land Trip was a special Pastor’s Appreciation Gift from our congregation about three years ago. Due to the pandemic, she was prevented from going until now. Others are asking when she is going again and are wanting information on how to go. If you want to be a part of a trip of a lifetime to Israel, contact Pastor Joane for details.

During the evening service that same day, we celebrated Holy Communion using special cups made of live wood from Israel. Our Communion services are always special but this one was extra so! Everyone is invited to attend any of the services at Fisherman’s Chapel.

We will be going to La Vernia to participate in the 20th Anniversary Services for Hope Church on Sunday, January 22. Pastor Bobby Nixon, a longtime friend, will be ministering in the morning activities. Hope Church has recently acquired additional property next to their main campus, when they are wanting to develop. It will be a great day with many special guests in attendance.

February 9 and 10 will be the date of a Community Revival Effort. On Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m., we will gather at the New Beginnings Church in Port Lavaca for special music and the anointed preaching ministry of Pastor Don Nordin. On Friday, we will travel to New Life, El Campo for the second night of Revival. Pastor Don Nordin has ben the pastor of the great C.T. Church, Houston, for over twenty years. He has a powerful ministry and those who attend will be greatly blessed.

On February 24 and 25, I will be the guest speaker at a Men’s Retreat in Sweeny. Most will remember Patrick Overton, who is leading those special services. Its theme will be “Fatherhood” and there will be several different speakers. I am honored to be asked to participate.

On Sunday evening (6:00 p.m.) February 26, we will be having our yearly Meeting of the Members. We share reports from every area of the Chapel and will be sharing our vision for future activities. One does not need to be a member of the Chapel to attend, in fact, we almost every year have those attending as visitors. All are welcomed.

Each Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m., we gather at the Chapel. Our first activity is praying over the food, which is provided by someone from our congregation. Then we have a short devotional and a lot of fellowship. It is always a great midweek break, and we always get out in time for our students to have opportunity for a great evening of rest.

What I am trying to write is that Fisherman’s Chapel is an active group of people who love the Savior and enjoy one another, whether it is eating together, or fellowshipping, or even going to different churches to worship together! You are always welcome to come and are urged to, “Come, grow with us!”
