Have you been waiting to see some progress at the Community Center from all the fundraising we have done for the past 15 months? We’ll wait no more! We have been able to start work inside the main building. The new flooring has been installed and the kitchen counters and backsplash are finished. There is still much to be done on both buildings, but things are now going forward. The Pavilion work is on hold until rentals for this year come to an end. After the first of the year, things will start on the projects planned for that area. The restrooms will be added on to, the kitchen area and new prep area will be completed, paint and repairs will be done as needed. The Community Center Facelift Project will insure that this important hub of POC will continue to host events well into the future.

We are still raising funds to complete the work needed. Phase I costs have increased beyond reasonably expected numbers since last year and only half the amount needed has been raised for the main building. No fundraisers have been planned in the near future, but donations are still being taken at FNB POC and on PayPal at PortO’connorCommunityCenter@gmail.com.
