Kids at Christmas
Seadrift’s First Assembly of God Church

December 17th was a special day for Seadrift’s Assembly of God Church. It has been an annual event for at least 25 years for the church to have a children’s Christmas program. Of course, there is nothing like hearing kids sing at Christmas time and everyone in the audience was impressed with all that the kids had to present. Their songs were as follows: Go Tell it on the Mountain, Wonderful Counselor, Mary had a Baby, Jesus O What a Wonderful Child, and O Little Town of Bethlehem. The children had been working on the program since August. Directors were Megan Smith, Daylyn Hunt, and Tara Beck.

Dwayne Williams is a Dove Award winner and a friend of the pastors Mart and Mary Ann Maxwell. Dwayne is from Nacogdoches, Texas and has been in ministry for twenty years. He travels all over the U.S. and has been in Europe as well. In February he will be performing at the Cowboy’s Ministers Network Conference in San Antonio. Blue-Santa
A Blue Santa – Celebrating the Seadrift Community
It was the Saturday before Christmas and all through the Seadrift Civic Center were games, photo booths, gifts, food, and bicycles…and don’t forget the Blue Santa! The wonder in the children’s eyes was a sight to behold! Young and old enjoyed the event and left excited to have been there. Two months of preparation for this party by Seadrift’s police department will pay great dividends in building relationships with the community.

The food was donated by the La Terraza restaurant and Domino’s Pizza in Port Lavaca. Bicycles were donated by Bubba’s Seafood Restaurant and a private donor. A large portion of the gifts were donated by Angel Lucy’s Funeral Home. Balloons & Co. made some beautiful displays for the event. Thank you, Angelica Garza! Members of the community chipped in as well.

There was a host of volunteers to help with the event: Maria Cavazos, Cali Gonzales, Jayda Nguyen, Stacy Kirkham, Joe Cherbuy, Zae Graves, Nereida Torres, Heather Burkett, Lisa Cambell, Mona Servantes, Annette Delgado, Madysin Delgado, Mari Torres, and Deede McGhee.

Only Joy!
Christmas at Fisherman’s Chapel

We are happy to report that the Grinch did not steal any Christmas joy at the Fisherman’s Chapel Christmas party in Port O’Connor! It was a fun and festive time for many as there was plenty of good food, great fellowship, and lots of merrymaking! After gifts were opened the Christmas story was read by Pastor Erny McDonough from the Book of Luke in the Bible. There it reads that the angel gave the news to the shepherds that “A Savior is born to you today in the city of David, who is Messiah the Lord.”
