Everyone loves a parade! I know I do! What better way to celebrate our nation’s birthday than with a parade filled with fellow patriots who happen to have a deep appreciation for our nation and the Biblical roots upon w
hich it was founded. For had it not been for our Christian heritage we would not have had an America that has existed for some 248 y                    ere were some of their responses:  “(It was) God and freedom”, “(It was) the freedom to worship”, “(It was) the freedom to get a job”, “(It was) people who chose to fight for our freedom”, and “(Because this is) the land of the free and home of the brave.”
Both parades in Port O’Connor and Seadrift had great turnouts for those in the parade and those who watched from the side-lines. Candy was tossed to the kids. Music was played from loudspeakers. There were a lot of smiles and a whole lot of waving to the crowds of onlookers.
Port O’Connor’s parade was led by the Fire Department with their impressive array of firetrucks! The parade Marshall was none other than our County Sheriff Bobbie Vickery and his lovely wife Rhea.  Seadrift’s parade was led by our county sheriff’s officer Milly Stuckey followed by Seadrift’s parade Marshall Mayor Jesse Hubbell with his lovely wife Becky. To make the parade complete the parade ended with Seadrift’s fire department truck and Constable Louis Warren.
All in all, both parades were a huge success… a delight for the young, the old, and all those in between.
Port O’Connor’s parade was sponsored by their Chamber of Commerce. Seadrift’s parade was sponsored by the Seadrift Service Club. Thanks to you, both!   -Tanya DeForest

Trump Boat Parade

It was July 6th. The weather was beautiful. A lot of people’s minds were on a possible blow from Hurricane Beryl, but for some people being in a Trump Boat Parade was hard to resist! People took to their boats to create a platform to express their beliefs and endorsement of a certain presidential candidate whose name just happens to be Donald Trump! The parade was surely a sight to behold… all those boats (200 of them), with all those people aboard (There were lots of them. Anybody want to count?), and all those Trump flags waving in the wind! Patriotism was at an all-time high.

Let’s hear from the parade organizer, Scott Brown: “I am the one who coordinated the parade. I, also, did the one back in 2020. I have to say it was a pretty awesome day out on the water. (I) was a little worried that with the storm and with the fireworks cancelled that it was going to be small. I was wrong. We almost had as many boats as we had in 2020. I was very happy with the turnout, and everyone had nothing but respect and courtesy for each other and the waterways.”

Comments from people in the parade were as follows:

“(It was) a great time with the safe return for all boats that I know of. (The) Coast Guard and TPWD (Texas Parks and Wildlife Department) managed accordingly. Overall, 10/10 great time”

“It was a great feeling to be part of the parade! Pride in USA!”

“I think it was incredible to see the amount of Trump Supporters in POC and surrounding areas not only celebrating him but the love of our country!! Amazing job, Scott Brown!”

“It was amazing! Goosebumps in that kind of heat!? You know it’s got to be something special to make that happen!”

In closing, we’d like to thank everyone who contributed to this article. God Bless America!-Tanya DeForest
