The essence of community is beautifully captured at our local library. Our treasured library indeed serves as a cornerstone, providing a space for learning, connection, and growth. The same can be said for any community pillar, whether it is a church, service club, sports team, or book club. These places bring people together, fostering a sense of belonging and shared purpose. So, to anyone looking to make a new place feel like home: get involved, volunteer, and connect with those who share your passions. It is in these connections that we often find our second family and make any place feel like home. Local information is at your fingertips by visiting YOUR library!

THANK YOU to Our October Donors:

Friends of the POC Library:
National Friends of Libraries Week, now in its 19th year, will be observed from October 20-26. The origins of this celebration date back to the mid-1950s, when research revealed a decline in spending on books in favor of radios, televisions, and musical instruments. Established in 1957 by the American Library Association, the organization was founded on the belief that encouraging reading would lead to increased support for libraries. This annual event underscores the essential role that libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening communities. Join us in celebrating the invaluable gift of libraries and the endless opportunities they offer.
Children
Children’s Program:
All of the children had a great time at the Friend’s Fall Party at the library on Saturday, October 12th. The kids had a chance to make decorations for their favorite fall holidays: fall, Halloween and Thanksgiving. Ask around and their favorite part seemed to be all the fun treats. From cupcakes and candy to spooky wreaths and silly turkeys, it is always a good time at the Port O’Connor Super Saturday event.
Mark your calendar for the next exciting program on the way for the kids of POC! On Saturday, November 9th, our program focuses on Friends of the First Responders. Be sure to join us for our engaging Saturday children’s events each month. Do not miss the fun and learning opportunities!

Adult Programs:
• Mark your calendars for Monday, October 21st, for another Poetry Night from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M.

Attendees have an opportunity to read original poetry or something by a favorite author or simply listen.
