A meeting was held at 7:00 p.m. on March 3, 2011 in City Hall by individuals interested in supporting and working with a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the incorporation of Seadrift as a City in December 2012. This was the first meeting to see what interest there was in beginning to lay the ground work for this celebration. In attendance were Jerry Amason, Joyce Amason, Jack LaBarge, Elmer DeForest, Tanya DeForest, Patrick Henley, Odis Lambright, Kathleen Lambright, Donald Miller, Janie Waghorne and Laurie Weaver. Several in attendance mentioned other individuals that were interested in attending but were unable to do so. Numerous discussions were held regarding various historical aspects, anecdotal stories and etc. No decisions were made as to officers and leaders at this meeting. Another meeting is scheduled for April 12, 2011 at 7pm in City Hall. Everyone interested in becoming a part of this effort in whatever capacity should plan to attend.
