The Lady Pirates played the Howell Lady Wildcats at Seadrift, October 18, 2013.  The 7th grade lost 10-25 and 13-25.  Rebecca Barrera scored one point.  The top scorer was Karsen Pittman with 8 points and one ace.  8th grade came close, scoring 22-25 and 23-25.  Krislyn Key scored 2 points, Abbi Luna scored 3, Torri Mikolas and Kellie Blevins scored 4.  The top scorer was Abby Morgan with 7 points one ace.
The Lady Pirates played Stroman Lady Vipers at Stroman, October 21, 2013.  Seventh grade lost in three. The scores were 28-26, 23-25, 13-15.  Brianna Cruz scored one point, Haley Bales scored four, Rebecca Barrera and Gillian Vasquez scored six, Anna Sachtleben scored six with one ace and high scorer was Karsen Pittman with seven.
Eighth grade won in two.  The scores were 25-11 and 25-14.  Torri Mikolas and Kelsey Vannoy scored three, Krislyn Key scored four, Amy Venecia and Kellie Blevins scored five, Abbi Luna seven points, one ace.  High scorer was Abby Morgan with eight points, one ace.
On Saturday, October 26, the Lady Pirates played in the district tournament. The 7th grade played in the A tournament at Travis. They played Patti Welder A. The scores were 10-25 and 15-25. Game 1 Heather Glover and Karley Gregory each had a point with Heathers being an ace. In game 2 Gillian Vasquez and Rebecca Barerra added 1 pt. Karsen Pittman and Kaley Gregory were high scorers with 2 pts each.
The 8th grade played in Victoria. Their game was against Howell A team. The scores were 19-25, and 15-25. In game 1 Torri MIkolas and Krislyn Key had 3 pts each. Krislyn also added 4 kills. Kellie Blevins and Kelsey Vannoy each had 2 pts. Raquel Clinton added a kill. Abby Morgan lead all scorers with with 4 pts. In game 2 Kellie Blevins were high scorers with 4 pts each and Abby Morgan added 2 pts.
This was a good tournament for the girls. We did not win but we held our own. It was not about the score but about the performance. They played well and have worked hard all season.
