I departed Port O’Connor on Monday, October 28, 2013 and boarded a plane in Houston for Budapest, Hungary for a 16 day vacation. I am now on the Danube River at Nuremberg, Germany. I have visited Vienna, Austria, Budapest, Hungary, Passau, Regensburg, Bamberg, Wurzberg, Marktheidenfeld and Frankfurt. All have their own beauty and I am thoroughly enjoying this opportunity. This is a beautiful riverboat, one of Vantage Travel’s newest riverboats. The service and the food have been outstanding. I will be returning home on November 12, 2013. I am writing this article on November 4, by e-mail to make the deadline.
The big event coming up is Port O’Connor’s Annual Thanksgiving Service which is Sunday evening November 24 at 6:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church. The three Port O’Connor churches, First Baptist, Fisherman’s Chapel and St. Joseph’s church join together each Thanksgiving to have a joint praise service for Thanksgiving. The service rotates each year in location and Thanksgiving message. This year St. Joseph’s Catholic Church will be delivering the Thanksgiving message and First Baptist will be the host church.
You will enjoy the music by the choir and the congregation. An offering will be taken to purchase food for the Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for Port O’Connor needy families. Please bring some canned food for the baskets. Following the service, First Baptist will have a food, drink and fellowship time. Please come and invite your friends.
See you in church Sunday.
