The Tradition Continues

How long does it take to make a tradition? In this case it has been almost 20 years since the three churches of Port O’Connor decided to get together around Thanksgiving to worship and fellowship as one body of Christ. Starting with the Baptist church, and rotating between Baptist, Catholic and Fisherman’s Chapel, each church in turn hosts the service and the fellowship meal afterwards.

This year on November 24, First Baptist Church was the host, with a Thanksgiving message given by Rev. Donnie Martin, special music by members of two of the churches, Scripture reading by Rev. Erny McDonough of Fisherman’s Chapel, and a delicious array of fine refreshments courtesy of the ladies of First Baptist. Sadly, this year St. Joseph Church was underrepresented due to a special planned event in Port Lavaca.

If you’ve never attended this special service, even if you’re not officially a member of one of the churches, please make a note of this special yearly event. It will make your Thanksgiving complete!
