Victor Z. Martin was born in Brownsville, Texas on June 17, 1943 and passed away on January 27, 2014. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1965 where he was a member of the Corp of Cadets and varsity wrestling team. Victor spent 5 years in the U.S. Navy serving in Vietnam where he left as Lieutenant. He was a school teacher for 24 years and spent 12 of those years teaching in Seadrift, Texas and 12 years in Taylor, Texas where he was an inspiration and friend to many of the kids he taught.
Victor was a great husband, father and grandfather. He made his mark on the world by being an impressionable teacher, an amazing wildlife artist and inspired so many people in the short time he was on earth.
He is survived by his wife, Christy Martin; daughters, Samantha Dobbs and fiancé Greg Taylor and Charity Thornton and husband Kevin; grandchildren, Casey Williamson and Lance Hattley; great grandchildren, Cadence and Coda Hattley; mother, Lorea Martin; brothers, Chester Martin and wife Shirley and Larry Martin and wife Linda; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Victor’s life was held on Saturday the 1st of February, 2014 in the chapel of the Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. Honorary pallbearers were Chester, Larry and Jake Martin, Kevin Thornton, Greg Taylor and Brian and Chad Goforth.
The family wants to show their appreciation and gratitude to the nurses and technicians at the Austin Heart Hospital with their show of great care and compassion they gave to him.
